When did WhatsApp Release the Payment Feature?
Since WhatsApp has been testing its new payment feature services for a year now, this feature is promised to be available for everyone by the end of this year. Also, the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) has approved WhatsApp to go live in a graded manner.
To be exact, this payment feature was launched back in November 2020 but at that time it was only available for selected devices only, but recently it has been rolled out for all WhatsApp users.

How to Install the WhatsApp Payment Feature?
To install the WhatsApp payment feature, first of all, you will require the latest WhatsApp version to be installed on your IOS or Android device.
Then, you will have to activate your WhatsApp payment account and there is no need for installing any additional app or software for using this feature. To set up your WhatsApp payment account follow the procedure below.
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp app on your Android or IOS device and click on the three-dotted button situated on the top right of the interface in case you are using an android device. If you are using an IOS device, go to settings.
Step 2: After that, select payments from the drop-down menu and click on New Payments to add a payment method for your transactions. (Only works in countries where WhatsApp Pay is available)
Step 3: After clicking on “Accept and Continue”, a new interface will open consisting of the list of Banks that you can choose from.
Step 4: Choose the bank you have an active account in and then verify your phone number. Also, make sure to provide the phone number that is registered in your bank account. You will also be required to set up a UPI Pin for secured transactions.
Step 5: After verifying your phone number, click on “Allow” to let WhatsApp authenticate your accounts and then choose the account you want to do WhatsApp payment transactions with and click on “done”.
How to Send or Recieve Money with WhatsApp Payments Feature?
Sending and receiving money with the help of the WhatsApp payments feature is pretty easy. If you are first time using the WhatsApp payment feature, we have gathered here some simple steps to ease you out through the process.
Step 1: Open the chat window of the person you want to send the money to in the WhatsApp app.
Step 2: Now, click on the attachment icon or the icon with a “+” sign. And then click on “Payments”.
Step 3: After this, enter the amount you want to send to that person, and if you want to provide any extra instructions, you also have the option of adding notes.
Step 4: Once you press enter, you will be asked to provide the UPI pin code that you had set up earlier. On process completion, you will be notified by a confirmation message.
For receiving money on your WhatsApp payment account the sender has to follow the procedure mentioned above if he has the WhatsApp payment account.
In case the sender does not have a WhatsApp payment account, he can still send you the money. In this case, you have to send your UPI ID of WhatsApp Pay to the sender and he can send you the money using other payment platforms such as Paypal, PhonePe, or GooglePay.
Once the sender has sent the money successfully, you will be informed by WhatsApp Pay through an SMS that you have received the money.
How to Send Money Using QR Code in WhatsApp?
The QR code payment option was lacking at the beginning of the newly introduced WhatsApp payment feature but was soon integrated with it successfully. To send money using QR Code in WhatsApp follow the process below.
Step 1: Go on to the WhatsApp Payments and select “New Payments”.
Step 2: Now, clicking on “Scan QR Code” will redirect you to the QR scanning interface and you will be required to enter the amount you want to send.
Step 3: Once you have scanned the QR code and entered the amount, you will be asked to provide the UPI Pin to complete the verification and a message will be received on successful transaction.
